The Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH, one of our strong partners) has invited Harambee Arts to collaborate on a children's project taking place in two Nairobi slum areas: Korogocho and Viwandani.
workers from the areas that are being targeted, three artists,(also from
the slum areas), Sofia Casas (Harambee Arts Program Assistant) and Gloria
Simoneaux. Harambee Arts has already led two trainings for the team (see
photos). Twenty five children from each community will participate in the 6
month project that focuses on community building and creating beauty
through the arts. Start date is March 28, 2009 in Korogocho.
Ndegwa, one of the young artists leaders, wrote: "I envision a world that
depends on each others values–without stigmatizing other continents–where
everybody is made of love and compassion."
